Following on from the revelation by local striking bus drivers that they are not being given their pay slips until they return to work we contacted First Bus Chief Executive Marc Reddy to get his side.

Key reponses in detail:
@MarcReddy Hi – please can you offer an explanation ‘First Bus Refuses to Issue Wage Slips To Drivers’ https://dorseteye.com/south/articles/first-bus-refuses-to-issue-wage-slips-to-
Marc Reddy:
@dorset_eye drivers can collect their wage slips from the depot when they are working.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy But not at other times?
@dorset_eye drivers can collect their wage slip at anytime they are working.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy Can they drop in at other times to pick up?
@dorset_eye business as usual is when they are working drivers can collect their pay slip no problem at all.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy To be clear you are saying that they cannot have their slips if they are not working?
@dorset_eye payslips are available on payday from the workplace, and are available when drivers start work.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy According to the government website they are entitled before the wages are paid https://www.gov.uk/payslips whether striking or not.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy They have to be available to the worker before the wage is sent. If you are preventing access it is your duty to send them.
Dorset Eye:
@MarcReddy You are thus admitting this legal contravention and for it to become public knowledge?
When asked if he acknowledged this legal contravention the twitter conversation ceased. This follows on from yesterday’s published article in which a bus driver was reportedly told to ‘get a solicitor’ when inquiring when he would receive his pay slip.
Thanks to Stewart Osborne – ‘An employee has the right to be given by his employer, at or before the time at which any payment of wages or salary is made to him, a written itemised pay statement.’

What we know as facts are that First Bus are not paying equal wages to their workers in different regions of county and beyond and yet they are making very significant profits at local passengers’ and employees’ expense.
Over to the locals to respond accordingly then?
