community to join them for a very fun healthy eating workshop.

Keen to share the team’s expertise about healthy eating for those living with diabetes, Care UK’s Ferndown Manor, on Golf Links Road, is inviting local people into the home, from 2pm-4pm, on Tuesday 20th August.

On the day, the community will be able sample healthy twists on classic recipes while chatting to Ferndown Manor’s Head Chef, Alexandru Marin. The culinary team will also share information on symptoms, causes and the result of having high blood sugar levels, and discuss the Public Health England’s ‘Eat well plate’ – recommending options from different food groups.

The session aims to provide family carers and those living with diabetes with a space to ask questions and learn practical tips and simple food swaps. Guests will also have the chance toshare experiences with other people living with diabetes in a relaxed group setting.

The event has been designed to get local people talking about how to keep fit and healthy in older age. Care UK has also created anonline advice hub which takes a closer look at how appetites and tastes change with age and features expert advice from Care UK’s nutritionists, as well as delicious and quick recipes to try.

Sara Muslin, Home Manager at Ferndown Manor, said: “We can’t wait for the local community to join us for our interactive healthy eating workshop.

“Here at Ferndown Manor, we’re passionate about raising awareness and reducing misconceptions around nutrition and hydration for people living with diabetes. It can be challenging to know how best to support your loved one – which is why we’re inviting the community to join our talented Head Chef and culinary team who are keen to share their expertise.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming some new faces and old friends for a chat over some delicious and nutritious food.”
