The controversial process of Hydraulic Fracturing known as Fracking may start in Swanage soon. Exploration drilling is due to start sometime after Nov 14th (this is the date by which objections have to be lodged at Dorset County Council) at California Quarry by Infrastrata PLC. Should planning permission be approved by Dorset County Council exploratory drilling will start sometime after this date. Sources report that Swanage Town Council have raised no objection to planning permission being granted by Dorset County Council. California Quarry is owned and operated by Suttles Stone Quarrying a local company. Swanage is on the world famous Jurassic Coast and is part of an area denoted as a world heritage site.
