South East Dorset Green Party were delighted to welcome two distinguished guests to their Open Meeting last Saturday, 30th November, which was opened by our local chairman Mark Chivers. Professor Molly Scott Cato, the Green Party lead candidate in the South West for the MEP elections in May 2014, and Jenny Jones, Baroness of Moulsecoomb, member of the London Assembly and first Green Party member of the House of Lords were the speakers at a discussion on “Fracking or Renewables – Where should Dorset’s energy come from?”

Jenny also related some of her amusing experiences in the House of Lords, as well as telling us how the wide experience and knowledge of the members of the House helps to shape our laws. A lively debate followed the presentation, which was attended by over 30 people, who were strongly opposed to fracking.

The meeting was part of the campaign for the European elections and also part of a series of open meetings organized for the community by South East Dorset Green Party, who took this opportunity to launch their Local Manifesto.
