Prime Minister

You need to be having a word with that Ross McEwan, the CEO of RBS because – and this is why I suggest you frame this message – he’s given me cause to actually thank his fraternity by saying that the banks should pay people fairly.  I expect you’ll be wanting to ask for an update memo now from the RBS head office, to see if that’s the new policy that your government is supposed to be promoting?  After all, you wouldn’t want to be out of step with the top national policymakers in the banking industry, would you?  Those that are left once they’re finally all finished with jumping off tall buildings, that is.

Standard Life have proven that the finance industry are the people who issue instructions to governments, that’s how I know you’ll be needing to ask for that update.  They must be, because they seem to have no worries about being seen to publicly attempt to blackmail an entire nation.

What this says to me is that Standard Life are quite prepared to move in order to continue conning people who aren’t as canny as the Scots when it comes to where to place their savings and life insurance business.  Yet another reason not to be proud to be English any more appears right there.

To be honest, I sincerely hope that the Scots call these deserting rats’ bluff and kick them off their newly launching ship anyway for trying that dirty little trick on your behalf.  If the Scots have any sense, they’ll kick RBS out as well.  Bonuses being paid on the back of an £8.2bn LOSS?  Britain’s banking classes are still trapped in their something-for-less-than-nothing culture of entitlement then…

Keep it going, Prime Minister.  The more greed that these creatures display, the more they make you look like a bunch of ineffectual twunts, and the more reason develops for the voting public to consign your Party back to the wilderness in May 2015.

Sincerely,

Darren Lynch
