The free event is being hosted in honour of Blandford Leisure Centre’s 30th anniversary and will welcome the community to join in the celebrations with a fun-filled day of activities.

A range of free sports and fitness taster sessions will be available throughout the day, from family swimming and adult gym classes to junior Taekwondo and football coaching. The sports hall will be open for visitors to participate in badminton, mini tennis and basketball too.

Parents will welcome the array of family-friendly activities on offer, including a bouncy castle, soft play, face painting and a colouring competition. There will also be musical theatre sessions for children aged between four and twelve in the Deer Park Studio, including jazz, singing and mini ballet.

Attending as the star guest will be the Mayor of Blandford, Cllr Hugo Mieville, who will be cutting the birthday cake and making a speech at midday.

The anniversary celebrations will also include a variety of entertainment, including a special performance from Blandford Choir and a ukulele group demonstration.

Alongside those activities, there will be a Breast Cancer Now Coffee Morning taking place, which will invite residents to come together over coffee and cake to raise money for an important cause.

Blandford Leisure Centre is run by Everyone Active in partnership with Dorset Council and has been keeping the community of Blandford Forum active for 30 years.

Hollie Jones, area contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We are so excited to host our upcoming open day in celebration of the centre’s 30th anniversary.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to reflect on what Blandford Leisure Centre has achieved over the past three decades and we are honoured to have the Mayor of Blandford join us to mark this milestone.

“It’s set to be a fun-filled day with activities on offer for all interests, ages and abilities, so we look forward to welcoming the community to celebrate with us!”

Cllr Jon Andrews, Dorset Council’s Cabinet Member for Place Services, said: “I’d like to thank everyone that has been involved in the running of Blandford Leisure Centre over the past 30 years.
