“Beautiful Music in a Beautiful Place”
Christchurch Priory will be hosting a Gala Concert on Saturday, May 16 that 7.30pm to raise funds for the Samaritans of Bournemouth and District. The concert, engagingly entitled “Beautiful Music in a Beautiful Place” will include a wide range of classical and modern music with an exciting line-up of talent. The popular Bournemouth Male Voice Choir, under the leadership of Musical Director Mark Burstow and accompanied by pianist David East, will sing a number of well-loved songs from their repertoire. Priory organist Simon Earl will accompany Dorset chamber choir The Orlando Singers, under the direction of David Everett, as they sing beautiful sacred melodies. Wessex Harmony, an enthusiastic female a cappella choir, will perform songs old and new under the direction of Dyrck Lamble. Local soprano Fiona Aucott will be accompanied by pianist Barry Groves as she sings favourites from Puccini to Gershwin. Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus”, sung by all the performers, will conclude this thrilling Gala Concert. The evening will be compered by the Patron of the Samaritans of Bournemouth and District, Dr Andrew Mayers (Psychologist and mental health campaigner at Bournemouth University)

The funds raised will go to the local Samaritans branch which serves a large area of East Dorset and the New Forest, to enable them to support people in distress by telephone, e-mail, text, and face-to-face. The branch receives no financial support from the central Samaritans charity. All operating funds must be raised locally
