Local performers gather together for a tribute to George Michael at a charity extravaganza on Thursday 2nd February at Canvas.

As every month in 2016 seemed to bring us yet another celebrity loss, the year came to a sad end with the premature death of singer George Michael. However, he left a legacy of wonderful work which will ensure his memory and his music live on. Now that legacy is being celebrated in the ‘Too Funky’ Charity Extravaganza organised by Darren Northeast PR.

Darren himself is bringing together some of the finest local artists in the Bournemouth area to perform songs from George’s vast repertoire at a charity evening on Thursday 2nd February.  The ‘Too Funky’ charity extravaganza will be held at Canvas, Bournemouth’s stylish live lounge famed for its live music and its dazzling DJ sets.

The event will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Childline. Artists taking part include renowned singer-songwriter Paul Kinvig; award-winning saxophonist Claire Manners; international singer Chris Manning from BBC‘s Fame Academy; West End Musical Theatre singer Natasha Dark; and Danny McClafferty. The whole evening will be steered by master MC and DJ Jay Rachet.

Darren Northeast, Managing Director of Darren Northeast PR, one of the region’s leading PR companies, said:

“We’ve just been overwhelmed by the response to ‘Too Funky’. We’ve had so much support from James Maidment of Canvas, all the artists, and from the gig-goers. Tickets are just flying out. It’s amazing and a testament to how George Michael’s music touched so many people. It’s going to be a fantastic, fun and, of course, funky night!”

The Too Funky Charity Extravaganza takes place on Thursday 2nd February 7.30pm – 1.00am at Canvas, 45 Poole Hill, BH2 5PW (21+ age restriction). Tickets for this very special evening are £15.00 from www.eliteticket.co.uk/portfolio/george/. All monies will be divided evenly between the two charities. If people want to know more about the event, they can contact Darren direct via email – [email protected]
