As part of an exciting new challenge to get people out into nature where they live, Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) and the Wildlife Trusts nationally are asking everyone to do something wild, every day, for the month of June.

Everyone who signs up to 30 Days Wild – the UK’s first ever month-long nature challenge – will receive a pack full of ideas and ‘Random Acts of Wildness’, so that no matter how busy you are, you will find something wild to do every day!

Acts of wildness could include anything from smelling a wildflower, recording wildlife sounds, reading a book outside, or rockpooling off the coast of Dorset.  Those who sign up will also receive a wallchart to track their progress, a wild badge, and support from the Wildlife Trusts through emails and social media.

DWT Communications Officer, Sally Welbourn said: “We’re here to inspire people, and show that whatever your age, wherever you live, and with whatever time you have, everyone can take part.  Spending time outside is good for us both physically and mentally, so we want to inspire everyone to give themselves a chance to feel good with 30 days wild!  Luckily for those living in Dorset, you will never be far away from countryside or beaches to explore, a beautiful landscape to admire or a wildlife spectacle to experience.”

This challenge will also give us a unique chance to see how spending time outside affects us – those who sign up can take a ‘wildness’ quiz which has been developed with the University of Derby to measure people’s connection to nature, happiness and their pro-nature behaviour before and after the month.
