Embark on a wild adventure with The Dorset Wildlife Trust and The Bournemouth Natural Science Society as the popular ‘Wild About’ event returns to Bournemouth on Saturday 20th July.

This is a free event for all the family to kick start the summer holidays with activities for everyone. The event will take place at Boscombe Chine Gardens on Saturday 20 July from 11am-4pm and will showcase Bournemouth’s best selection of wildlife.

We have lots of activities including stalls, games, craft activities and walks to keep all ages entertained. Kids and adults can see tiny critters up-close with the mobile field ecology lab, ‘Wild Trek Trailer’ which brings nature to the big screen to help you learn more about the urban wildlife in Bournemouth.

There will also be guided tree walks, face painting, bird box making and a trip to the Natural History Museum at the Bournemouth Natural Science Society where you can see a 25thDynasty Egyptian mummy in her wooden coffin, fossils from 5 million years ago, and 6,000 flora specimens in the Botany room!

Sally Welbourn, Communications Officer for Dorset Wildlife Trust said: “This annual event is always very popular as it’s a good chance to learn from conservation and wildlife experts. Between DWT and the BNSS we hope to give everyone a fun day out with the chance to see and do some interesting things whilst learning a little something about nature along the way!”

Heather Dixon, officer for the Bournemouth Naturally Project said: “There is a vast amount to discover about the wildlife living on your doorstep so why not come along and find out more about what you can see in your own back garden, local park or nature reserve.”

For more information about the event please contact Heather Dixon of the Bournemouth Natural Science Society on 07590909933 or email [email protected]
