Dorset Wildlife Trust is holding its annual ‘Wild About’ event at The Town Hall in Wareham on Saturday 29th June.
Activities and events will also be held in the Corn Exchange and the Quay, where kids and adults can get involved to learn about wildlife with some hands-on activities.
There will be a wide range of arts and craft activities, and there’s something for everyone to get involved in. Get creative and have a go at making colourful dragonflies, or get competitive and play our climate change snakes and ladders challenge!
Experts from wildlife organisations from across Dorset will be on hand to tell you about the wildlife in the area, and take you for walks to the beautiful Priory Meadows to explore river wildlife and take in the stunning views.
Briony Baxter, Community Conservation Officer at Dorset Wildlife Trust said: “This event is great for local people in Wareham, but it also helps connect other people to the area. There is nothing better than a family day out to enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna that’s everywhere we turn in Dorset.”
The soundtrack and ‘ecotainment’ for the day will be provided by ‘The Tip of the Pops Wheelbarrow Disco’, – an environmentally friendly disco with no carbon footprint! It has appeared at some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Shambala and The Big Chill.
Free light refreshments will be provided and various stalls and games are sure to keep all ages entertained all day. This is an all day extravaganza from 10am- 4pm, so don’t miss out on your opportunity to see the wild side of Wareham!
