Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) has some egg-citing events for children to get their teeth into this Easter, with a jam-packed programme of wildlife-themed activities for all ages at our Lorton, Kingcombe, Chesil and Kimmeridge visitor centres in Dorset.

From 10-3pm on Easter Sunday (20th April), join the Epic Easter Expedition at the Kingcombe Centre near Dorchester, for a family Easter hunt with special prizes, and children can also weave their very own Easter chick to take home. There will be plenty of culinary treats in the Kingcombe Centre café, including seasonal lamb hotpot, home-made hot cross buns and vegetarian options too.

The Fine Foundation Chesil Beach Centre and Kimmeridge Marine Centre has plenty of coastal-themed activities, giving children the chance to explore the coastline, rock-pools and find out what lurks beneath the waves.

Chesil Centre Manager, Emily Brown said:“We are inviting families to make the most of the nicer weather, discover what lives underneath the Fleet Lagoon on our ‘Seashore Detectives’ activity; learn how to track mammals, or come and search for shark and ray eggcases on our ‘Great Chesil Eggcase Hunt’. You might event find some of the chocolate variety too!”

For those wanting to keep their feet dry, Lorton Meadows Conservation Centre in Weymouth is holding an Easter Egg Trail from Wed 16th April to Sat 19th April (1-4pm and all day Saturday). Community Conservation Officer, Sam Dallimore said: “We are inviting families to get closer to nature and make the most of our picnic area, and then follow our egg trail. Just pick up a trail guide at the centre, follow the clues and collect your prize! You may also see some interesting wildlife along the way.”
