There’s a varied line-up of great live music on the horizon at Bridport Electric Palace, including The Beat and Seth Lakeman.

“We’re continually adding to our programme,” says manager Susan Warren. “The Palace has always been such a beacon for live music in the area and we want to continue that momentum. We’re really excited about the events coming up.”

One of the key promoters the Palace is working with is Jan Ayers, who’ll be bringing The Beat, Seth Lakeman, From The Jam, Dreadzone and The Wurzels to the vintage venue.

She said: “It’s great to see the Palace doing lots of gigs. My company SNG Live is more than happy to include this unique venue on our touring schedules and look forward to encouraging more well known artists to perform in Bridport.”

The Wurzels return to the Palace on Saturday 17 September. The band always sells out, pulling in a crowd from miles around for their jovial West Country hoedown.

Electro-dub pioneers Dreadzone are at Bridport Electric Palace on Saturday 22 October. Much beloved by the late, great John Peel, the band are still going strong after over 20 years. They continue to tour extensively around the world and are currently in the studio writing and recording a new album for release in late 2016.

Award-winning folk-singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Seth Lakeman will release a new album Ballads of the Broken Few in the autumn. He is touring the UK in November and December with his band and special guests Wildwood Kin. He’s at Bridport on Thursday 10 November.

Seth has successfully steered English folk music into the mainstream over the last 10 years, with high-energy performances and a series of best-selling albums.

From The Jam are coming on Thursday 1 December.

With From the Jam,  Bruce Foxton, The Jam founder member and bassist, has a hectic touring schedule and is in demand across the world and continues to sell out venues. From The Jam had a busy 2015 touring the UK, Australia, Singapore and the Middle East. Their forthcoming album Smash the Clock is due for release this month.

The Beat appear at Bridport Electric Palace on Thursday 8 December. One of the biggest bands of the 2-Tone movement, The Beat present a wall of sound that transcends time and ska fusion rhythms to ignite a crowd. The 2016 line-up features Ranking Roger and Ranking Junior on vocals with Oscar Harrison on drums, Andy Pearson and Steve Harper on guitars.

The Beat are known the world over for a string of hit singles, including Mirror in the Bathroom, Too Nice To Talk To, Can’t Get Used To Losing You, Hands off She’s Mine and All Out To Get You. Their songs of peace, love and unity fuse ska, pop, reggae and punk rock at their dynamic live show.

Advance tickets for all these events are available from Bridport Electric Palace box office, Bridport Tourist Information Centre on 01308 424901 or online at https://www.electricpalace.org.uk/music
