In this presentation, ‘The Joy of Stats’, Hans Rosling, a Swedish physician, academic, and public speaker, visualises world data on health and wealth.

Interestingly, the data doesn’t necessarily agree with the written histories of the world, an example of which appears at 2:50.

The age of empire, so glorious in the eyes of the conquerors, came to an end and, at last, the newly independent nations could begin to grow in health and wealth.

You can find more videos from Rosling, an enthusiastic teacher, on YouTube. Hans Rosling died on 7 February 2017. He’s a treasure the world will miss.
