Children and families are invited to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum this October, with a series of creepy craft sessions taking place during the half-term week and an eerie expedition around the house just in time for Halloween.
This Halloween, Bournemouth’s most unique museum is opening its doors as part of the nationwide Museums at Night Festival in which museums, heritage sites and galleries open after hours to showcase their treasures. Suitable for adults and children aged 7+, the Russell-Cotes Spooky Twilight Tour starts at sundown on Friday 30 October.
Storyteller, Lizzie Bryant, will be leading brave souls around the darkened corridors of the Russell-Cotes with spine-tingling tales centred around the weird and wonderful collection of paintings and artefacts. There is even a prize for the best fancy dress… for those who dare!
Speaking about the tour, Lizzie said: “With such an extraordinary array of art and objects, Russell-Cotes is an inspiring place for stories and I’m very excited to uncover and connect some spooky and ghostly myth and folklore for a creepy Halloween tour. Expect floating eyeballs, flying skulls, tenacious ghosts, shape-shifting statues and much more!”
For parents looking to keep the children entertained during half-term, a series of Creepy Crafts drop-in activity sessions run from Tuesday 27October – Friday 30 October, 10.30am – 2.30pm. Children will get the chance to create something ghoulish from a variety of choices including witches hats, Frankenstein masks and haunted houses.
