Dorset Health and Care Consumer Champions, Healthwatch Dorset, are set to launch a new young people’s project.
Healthwatch Dorset is launching a new young people’s project called “Be Yourself: Everybody Else Is Taken” for anyone aged 11-25. This new project has been set up so that young people across Bournemouth, Poole & Dorset can share their thoughts about health and wellbeing in a creative way.
The project is being launched at a series of school assemblies and college sessions across Dorset in January 2016. Emilia Chase from Healthwatch Dorset explains:
“As the Healthwatch Dorset Young People’s Officer it’s my job to help children & young people have a voice and express how they feel about health & care services. We’re encouraging anyone between the ages of 11 – 25 to tell us about their experience of mental health, disability, caring for others or the struggles they face with identity, in a digital and creative format. We want to hear about both good and bad experiences.
You can write a poem, story, diary entry, blog or vlog. Create a film, a piece of drama, dance or send in photography or illustrations about your experiences. Be as creative as you want and we’ll use all the entries to help us improve local services.”
Entries can be sent in to Emilia at [email protected] and there’s more details about the project here along with some entries Healthwatch has already received: www.healthwatchdorset.co.uk
Healthwatch Dorset are also planning an event in the spring to showcase some of the entries to health and care professionals. Your entries will remain anonymous, unless you wish to identify yourself inyour entry. This project is about breaking down barriers and making positive changes to the way local services are run.
