Commenting on the trending locations, Andy Edge, Chief Marketing Officer at Parkdean Resorts, said:

“Nostalgia has been a key theme for 2026 already and our data suggests travel is reflecting this too. This year we’re seeing a real resurgence in some of Britain’s most loved coastal and countryside destinations, with travellers gravitating towards places like Porthcawl, Cayton Bay and Poole. These towns offer the perfect balance of traditional seaside charm, beautiful surroundings and easy accessibility – all key factors for people planning a staycation this year.

“We’re also seeing strong interest in scenic, slower-paced destinations such as Camber Sands and Bowness-on-Windermere which reflect a growing desire for spending time outdoors in nature and taking time to unwind. Whether it’s long beach walks, lakeside views, or relaxed coastal days, Brits are clearly prioritising destinations that offer both escapism and adventure, closer to home.

“Lots of Brits are also leaning towards all-inclusive, catered options for their breaks to maximise value and eliminate the stress of cooking and enjoy more quality time together. These types of breaks make it easier to cater for everyone’s tastes too, which is convenient, as you know there’ll be something for the whole group.”

How to pick the right UK holiday destination for you

Brits are prioritising relaxation, quality time and memory-making when it comes to their holidays this year. Whether you’re after a relaxing hot-tub break or an action-packed holiday, tailoring your break to your needs is essential.

Parkdean have shared their top destinations and tips for booking the right break for you.

Rest and relaxation

“If you’re looking for a holiday that helps you reset and fully switch off, consider where you feel most at ease. For those who love the water, a break by the coast in quieter seaside towns such as Dornoch or Cayton Bay makes a calming choice.

“If you want to feel like you’ve truly left it all behind, more remote locations like the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall offer a real sense of escape, with dramatic scenery and a slower pace that makes it easy to unwind.

“Alternatively, for those who reset best in nature, destinations such as the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands or Northumberland’s coastline provide picturesque views, fresh air and plenty of space to switch off from everyday life.”

Family-friendly fun

“For families, the best holidays are all about balance, somewhere with plenty of entertainment to keep everyone busy but relaxing enough for all to recharge. Popular seaside destinations such as Newquay, Torquay, and Porthcawl continue to be firm favourites thanks to their beaches, attractions and family-friendly activities.

“These locations are ideal for making memories together, whether that’s beach days, coastal walks or classic arcade fun.”

Active breaks

“For holidaymakers who like to stay active, the UK’s coastline and countryside offer endless opportunities. North Yorkshire, the Lake District and Scotland are particularly popular for walking, cycling and watersports, making them ideal spots for couples or groups looking for an adventurous break.

“Areas such as Cayton Bay, Windermere and Southerness combine scenic surroundings with easy access to outdoor activities, making them great bases for exploring the local area.”
