A man who was captured on CCTV trying door handles of properties in Poole has been jailed.
Andrew James Millanaise, 46 and of Poole, pleaded guilty at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 10 September 2025 to four counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal and one count of burglary.
The first three incidents occurred during the early hours of Tuesday 19 August 2025 between 1.30am and 2.45am in Cranbook Road and Springfield Crescent.
On each occasion Millanaise walked up the driveways and approached the properties, but noticed there were CCTV cameras so walked away.
A week later during the early hours of Tuesday 16 August 2025, at around 3.35am the defendant approached a property in Churchill Road, put his sleeve over his hand and attempted to open the door.
During the same night, a burglary occurred at an address in Edward Road where Millanaise gained entry to a vulnerable man’s property and stole bank cards.
Dorset Police was made aware of the burglary after a member of the public found the victim’s coat discarded nearby, which contained paperwork belonging to the victim.
An investigation was carried out by the Neighbourhood Crime Team, which led to the arrest and charge of Millanaise.
The defendant was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 9 October 2025 to four years in prison.

“Thankfully, Millanaise was spooked on a number of occasions by home security that the victim’s had installed at their properties.
“We are committed to identifying burglars and ensuring they are held to account for their actions, which can have a lasting impact on those affected.”
