Let’s start with a brief reminder of the lies and broken promises of Sir Establishment Starmer:

  1. Brexit Position: One of the most significant shifts was on the issue of Brexit. While Starmer campaigned for a second referendum on Brexit during his leadership campaign, he later shifted the Labour Party’s position to accept the outcome of the 2016 referendum and advocate for a “close relationship” with the EU.
  2. Coronavirus-related: Starmer had criticised the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he faced criticism for initially appearing to support the government’s approach to school reopening’s in early 2021 before later calling for a more cautious approach due to concerns about the spread of new variants.
  3. Corbyn Suspension: Keir Starmer faced backlash for suspending former leader Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour Party in response to the EHRC’s report on anti-Semitism within the party. Later, he allowed Corbyn’s membership to be reinstated after a short suspension period, which was seen as a reversal of his initial stance.
  4. Tax Policy: There were instances where Starmer and the Labour Party adjusted their positions on tax policies. For instance, there were debates over whether Labour’s proposed tax increases should apply to those earning less than £80,000 per year or those earning over £125,000.
  5. Transparency on Donations: Starmer initially faced criticism for not disclosing all the details of his donations, but later released a list of donors.
  6. Support for Universal Basic Income: Starmer initially expressed openness to the idea of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) but later indicated that he would not be pursuing it as a policy for the Labour Party.
