On Channel 4, I just watched as Boris Johnson’s dad say something horrifically racist (again), doubling down on his racist son’s Islamophobic remarks.
Nish Kumar and the audience howled their utter derision and shock! Judge Rinder (of all people) rightly attacked his racism and his son’s long history of prejudice.
Today the country sided with Johnson’s dad.
Today, the country sided with racism and greed and climate change denial and policies that will benefit the richest 5% whilst millions suffer.
We have re-elected the most right wing government and cabinet for a very, very long time – in league with, and funded by, the multi-millionaires, investment bankers and hedge fund managers.
They are cruel, vicious, uncaring, racist, deceitful, selfish, greedy, utterly privileged and monumentally rich….. and they will continue with policies that have been destroying the fabric of our society (including our system of free healthcare, our schools and our public services), creating staggering levels of inequality, poverty and homelessness and literally killing off the poor and disabled in large numbers!
I am desolate, angry and deeply saddened.
I have spent some time gathering together some things which I’m posting below which I find meaningful and I think sum up how I feel and view this moment in time and in our country’s history.
