I have used the male pronoun throughout when I could have used the female pronoun. I have worked on the assumption that although females are more than capable of the following generally testosterone and social expectation plays at least some part.
It takes a certain kind of empathy free screw up to do this. However, before we transcend in to the carnage of their world we need to meet Joe.
Have you met Joe?
If you hadn’t then you are in the minority. Ignorant and never been cuddled, even when he was a baby. He has this air of superiority because he behaves more like a rat than most. He sniffs the metaphorical cheese and off he scurries in whatever direction he is instructed. The maze is his home and he will defend it until the end. It is all he has.
Then on occasions he does his master’s bidding and goes out and abuses people. He is wholly insensitive to other people’s lives and experiences and is thus entirely unaware of the damage he might do. He simply does not care.
He posts this on people’s doors unaware that he is as much if not more of a victim than they are.
Then he returns to his maze and keeps doing the same thing over and over until his last breath.
Nobody misses him for there is nothing to miss.
