Officers investigating an incident where two runners were assaulted near Wimborne are issuing an image of a man they would like to speak to.

At around 5.30pm on Sunday 25 July 2021 a man and a woman aged in their 30s were running along Cowgrove Road from Pamphill toward Wimborne when they noticed a cyclist coming in the opposite direction as they approached Eye Bridge. The cyclist shouted at them to move and as he passed he punched the woman to the back of the head.

He then threw his bike down and approached the man before also punching him to the face.

Neither of the victims sustained any injuries that required medical attention.

Police Community Support Investigator Steve Willis, of East Dorset police, said: “We have been carrying out a number of enquiries into this incident and have made efforts to identify a man who we would like to speak to as part of our investigation.

“These efforts have so far been unsuccessful, and I am now releasing his image in the hope that someone might recognise him. I would urge anyone with information as to his identity to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55210119544.
