We would like to inform you that Impress has written to representatives of all major political parties in the UK imploring them to review their use of campaigning materials that are made to resemble newspapers.

In her letter, Chief Executive Officer Lexie Kirkconnell-Kawana highlights the trust crisis that journalism currently faces and tells politicians that the production of these materials only threatens to worsen it, damaging democracy in the process.

You can read the letter sent to Conservative Party Chair, Greg Hands, below. Letters were also sent to the Labour Party, the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party, the SNP, Sinn Fein, The DUP and Plaid Cymru.

We would be more than happy for you to quote the contents of the letter in any content you are planning on this topic.

If a political party is proven to lie before an election we can be certain they will continue if they get in to government.
