World leaders have taken the opportunity to express their disgust at Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza at the UN climate summit…
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan emphasised the intertwining crises of climate and humanitarian situations in the Palestinian Territories, labelling the ongoing scenario in Gaza as both a war crime and a crime against humanity, urging accountability under international law.
Echoing similar sentiments, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa condemned the distressing events in Gaza, characterising the conflict against the innocent Palestinians as a war crime that demanded an immediate cessation.
Jordan’s King Abdullah stressed the inseparable link between climate change discussions and the unfolding humanitarian crises, urging greater recognition of these interconnected issues at the conference.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro tied the liberation of Palestine to the prospect of humanity’s survival amid the climate crisis, emphasising the urgency of Palestinian freedom.
Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and Iraq’s President, Abdul Latif Rashid, jointly appealed for an end to the war, while the Iranian delegation protested Israel’s presence by walking out of the summit.
Amidst these statements, climate activists, including members of the Climate Justice Coalition, held a press conference demanding an immediate ceasefire and an end to the occupation.
Notably, Israel’s President Isaac Herzog, initially present for the photo session, opted out of delivering his scheduled address later in the day.
Keep the pressure on these homicidal thugs.
