Four women, a collection of stories, a handful of hourglasses and one large mirror

When Norwegian contemporary dance company Panta Rei DanseTeater toured the Dorset with Artsreach back in 2011, the audience response was so enthusiastic that when the chance arose to welcome them back again this season it barely needed thinking about.

‘I Wish her Well’ is an intricate performance that combines storytelling, acrobatics and high tempo energy. Four dancers present a collection of stories, using several hourglasses and one large mirror. It is the simple, yet important, stories that are told in this physical performance; everyday events that are universally meaningful, but nonetheless invisible when official history is written. Act one is based on the stories of four women who are closely related to the dancers on stage, whilst the second act is based on the diaries of a sixteen year old girl, now an 82 year old woman who generously shared her thoughts and experiences with the choreographer and dancers. An evocative sound score by British composer Nathaniel Reed infuses the performance with melody, creating a captivating atmosphere throughout.

This highly acclaimed company will tour their new show right across the South West this November, working with rural touring schemes in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Wiltshire, as well as Dorset.
