Irish Traditional Music Session Evening @ The George, Portland

An exciting new venue for all lovers, players and singers of Irish music in Dorset!

4th November 2012. From 5pm onwards in the Quarr Bar of the George Inn, Reforne, Portland. Open to all who love traditional Irish music at its best! Please come and support the Musicians and the Pub and feel free to bring your instruments and join in with the tunes you know, and learn ones you don’t! With your support this session could become a regular date on the calendar!  Come for an hour, come for the evening, come for the Craic!

Anthony & Tracey look forward to providing a warm welcome to musicians and music lovers alike for the first known Irish Music Session at the historic C17th George Inn, Portland . Since taking over in 2009 they have established the George as a hub of the community by providing good pub food and drink in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere whilst building partnerships with the local community. They also pride themselves on their variety of real ales many of which are dispensed direct from cask on the back bar. (https://www.thegeorgeinn.org/)

The pub has a lovely secure garden and is very child friendly ( kids no problem), and the restaurant will be open from 5-8pm if you’ve worked up an appetite!
There is an event page on facebook so please feel free to share- Thank you https://www.facebook.com/events/329066570524405/

The Irish session…..

…a gathering of Irish traditional musicians for the purpose of celebrating their common interest in the music by playing it together in a relaxed, informal setting, while in the process generally beefing up the mystical cultural mantra that hums along uninterruptedly beneath all manifestations of Irishness worldwide.
