Is Boris Johnson planning his own Falkands conflict to save his skin?

Today’s announcement, that must make hungry children jump up and down with glee, is that the government has found £16.5 billion to spend on the navy and the war machine. This will fill their stomachs and help them sleep at night and concentrate at school.

‘Boris Johnson has vowed to “restore Britain’s position as the foremost naval power in Europe” as part of a multi-billion pound boost to defence spending’ reads the headlines in the corporate media. Glory, glory public school education and a lack of objective enquiry as ever was in the facile world of establishment ‘journalism’.

The prime minister lies that the “international situation is now more perilous and intensely competitive than at any time since the Cold War”. Why would that be? Because he has mounted an xenophobic assault on just about every other country since he became an MP and is now pandering to the racists across the country in his attempt to make the Brexit that he and the Cummings brigade created look bearable.

Mr Johnson told MPs that the UK’s defence budget had been “trimmed and cheese-pared” for decades and that he had “decided that the era of cutting our defence budget must end, and it ends now”. Why? What is it about the arms industry and killing other people that Mr Johnson and his ilk so enjoy? We know that they are psychopaths/sociopaths. In there lies much of the answer. We also know that the arms industry is the most profitable on the planet. The psychopathy, the killings and the big profits are hand in hand.

“I have done this in the teeth of the pandemic, amid every other demand on our resources, because the defence of the realm and the safety of the British people, must come first.” Really? The worst death count from Covid-19 in Europe and suddenly the British people ‘must come first’. Sorry don’t swallow this and never will.

With perhaps an eye on his future relationship with US president-elect Joe Biden, the prime minister hailed how the UK would now be investing more than any other European country in defence projects and more than any other NATO ally, other than America.

Outlining how the new money will be spent, the prime minister claimed the cash would help “spur a renaissance of British shipbuilding across the UK – in Glasgow and Rosyth, Belfast, Appledore and Birkenhead”.

Making his promise to “restore Britain’s position as the foremost naval power in Europe”, he added: “If there was one policy which strengthens the UK in every possible sense, it is building more ships for the Royal Navy.”
He said the government would seek to “develop the next generation of warships, including multi-role research vessels and Type 32 frigates”.

Thatcher’s bastard offspring is now disowning her. She must be spinning so fast in her grave that the national grid will be at breaking point for years. Public investment in shipbuilding when it could be done a lot cheaper elsewhere? Whatever next? Proper funding of the NHS and the education system?

Mr Johnson also outlined plans to focus the expanded defence budget on “technologies that will revolutionise warfare”, such as “directed energy weapons” that employ “inexhaustible lasers”.
He told MPs of a £1.5bn investment in military research and development, a new centre dedicated to Artificial Intelligence and a new RAF Space Command that will launch British satellites and “our first rocket from Scotland in 2022”.

The prime minister also confirmed the establishment of a National Cyber Force, which is already operating over computer networks against terrorism, organised crime and hostile states.

New ways to kill people! Yippee…. Always trust a Tory on that one. Both home and abroad.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer claimed the government had made the spending announcement – which comes before the publication of a review of the UK’s foreign, defence, development and security policy early next year – without a “clear strategy or a coherent vision for Britain in the world”.

Good old Keir. Not a word about the destruction that comes with it. Just an aside about not being enough detail.

But where does all this leave us? What is Boris and his cronies planning? He will have to justify this spending at some point with an end game. Just like Margaret Thatcher who rejected diplomacy to re take a small island in the South Atlantic that the UK had no right to occupy in the first place. An island off the coast of Argentina surely has more right to be with that country.

Perhaps the Battle of Gibraltar with a conflict with Spain is the plan? Or something in the Caribbean with some ‘difficult’ leader who wants his… population culled? Or…?

Whatever the Tories and the Starmerites have in mind one thing we can all be sure of. It will be us who are brainwashed in to believing it is the right thing. However, it is them who will gain at our expense. As ever was.
