JK Rowling, transgender discrimination and why we should all boycott Harry Potter merchandise

It is very unfortunate that a person who has made so much money from a series of children’s books and the materialism that accompanied them should now enter the political foray with out and out bigotry. It is also unfortunate that anyone should listen to her bigotry. However, it is the way of things at the moment that those who have so little understanding and empathy are the first to chunter day and night and as a result there are many who revel in that same chuntering.

The following neatly outlines the reasons why JK Rowling should not get away with her misguided contributions and should leave it to those who are enlightened and empathetic. She may believe she is making useful points. However, the damage created by her ignorance and lack of intention to apologise openly and back away, is ruining her once celebrated reputation.

Boycotting Hogwarts Legacy over JK Rowling’s transgender comments won’t achieve much – but it’s no surprise fans are considering it:

The lesson has still to be learnt Ms Rowling it appears:

  1. As a Dorset resident and member of the 65+ age group, I found your article on how to cancel JK Rowling extremely informative. I am not on Twitter and have trouble keeping up with these controversies, so I found it very useful to have a handy guide telling me what to do and think without having to go through the trouble of trawling through all the sources myself. I think it is really important to hold literary figures to account and, where necessary, public condemnation when their views do not correspond to our own. Therefore, I was wondering if you would be able to produce similar guides about how to cancel other authors whilst being able to appropriate their work as your own through fan fiction, etc. I’ve a few suggestions below about people you could start with, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if this could be a whole series? William Shakespeare (anti-Semitism); Charles Dickens (anti-Semitism, vile treatment of his wife); Walt Disney (racism); Dr Seuss (racism); Rudyard Kipling (racism); Louis Althusser (French philosopher who murdered his wife). I’m sure your readers will have lots of other ideas, too!

    • Dead people don’t benefit from royalties so boycotting them probably not quite so effective
People who don’t want to join in have a clear path to doing that
Personally, I think her neoliberalism and smearing of Corbyn are enough reason to boycott her which I would do if I read her in the first place She helped put the Tory government in which is a lot to forgive

  2. What a load of tosh. JKRowlings statemenr was compassionate and clear. She knows that sex exists and that it effects all our lives.

Anyone spreading the guff above should realise they who are evolution denying bigots who cant accept biological facts and have an issue with women having sex based rights. Youre promiting a misogynistic religion.
