6th August 2016 Join Consultation on Plans to Dramatically Decrease Centres for Births, Deaths and Marriages Author Dorset Eye Categories Dorset NorthEvents - Dorset North Share Share FacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsAppLinkedinReddItEmailPrintTumblrTelegramMixVKDiggLINEViberNaver We are consulting on proposals to change Dorset County Council Registration Service (Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships). The proposals to change the service are due to anticipated future budget pressures. This consultation is to help us to understand the impact of the proposed changes on our customers. Why review the Registration Service? Increasing demand and a reducing budget means Dorset County Council needs to save £47m by 2017/18. The only way we will achieve this is by: stopping or rationalising some services working differently and more effectively with our partners, communities and customers or maximising income opportunities We currently spend £998,000 on our Registration Service and this is offset by £806,000 income (2014/15); our main income source is from fees charged for marriages. Anticipated changes in marriage legislation could lead to an estimated loss of 30% of this income so we have to look at different ways of providing the Service with less money.
