“Joint 90th Celebrations”

Poole and East Dorset Art Society celebrates its foundation in 1924 with an exhibition by its most accomplished current member, Dennis Hill, who also happens to be marking his 90th birthday this month.

The exhibition is at “The Gallery Upstairs”, at Upton Country Park and opens on Friday for two weeks. Dennis has made some new paintings in watercolour, oil and acrylic and there will also be a rare chance to see some of his earlier works that are being loaned by their proud owners.

The Poole and East Dorset Art Society has a long association with artists in Poole and can boast among its founder members, Augustus John and Henry Lamb, both former Poole residents and giants in their field.

Also in the exhibition will be a short history of the Society, including some actual examples of work of its more illustrious members over the years. Two of those pieces have been generously loaned from the collections of Bournemouth and Poole College and the Borough of Poole.

Entrance to the exhibition is free and it is open daily from 10:30am to 16:00 and until 16:00 at weekends.
