LINE-UP

SKA band Orange Street will be headlining this year’s Festival

The daylong event willbe held at Asker Meadows, Bridport on Saturday July 11thfrom 10am -11pm

Orange Street was formed in 1996 by 2 brothers Lee and Ryan Fletcher with some school friends and have become hugely popular all over the country. They have supported Madness at Guilfest and have been joined on stage by various members of The Specials, and one of their original songs “Rough” topped the Ska charts.

Local band The Gravity Drive will be headlining the second stage. A husband and wife harmony driven alt-pop duo, they self-finance, promote and release their music on their own label working from their cottage near Bridport.

Described as: “Mighty and fabulous live”, by Radio 2 DJ Janice Long they have managed to find themselves in the Radio 2 playlist meeting a couple of times, a little victory for an act with no label, management or plugger.

Comedy on the third stage will be headlined by Adam Kay who is known for singing smutty songs at a piano. He has sold out seven Edinburgh Festivals and three nationwide tours, and has had over 10 million hits on YouTube, including the iconic London Underground song.

Following their success last year festival favourites Shelby’s Elbows and The Leggomen will be returning, this time to grace the main stage.

Shelby’s Elbows are an acoustic duo, made up of Dorset musicians Martin P. Davies and Phil Jeffs. who play a variety of instruments and produce an instantly recognisable sound that surprises people when they discover that there’s only two people making it. Besides writing and recording their own original music their set covers anything from Nirvana to Neil Young, Seal to Skynyrd, Dire Straits to Turin Brakes and anything in between.

The Leggomen are now in a full band capacity since the last festival and have four band members and a proper drum kit too!Delivering a blend of modern pop and rock as well as older classic tunes and original songs, they play covers from the Stone Roses to Passenger, Mumford & Sons, Avicci, Oasis and many more.

Regulars on the festival scene Hobo Jones & The Junkyard Dogs are one of the most unique musical acts on the circuit today. Covering a wide range of music from genuine 1950’s skiffle such as Lonnie Donegan, through Led Zeppelin & The Doors, via Johnny Cash to modern classics such as Green Day, Motorhead and even The Pussycat Dolls, this band appeal to a wide range of ages & tastes.

Another new act to perform at the festival is Gaz Brookfield, a solo acoustic musician based in Bristol.

He won Acoustic magazine’s 2010 Singer Songwriter of the year, and remains the only unsigned solo act to sell out The Fleece, Bristol, a feat he has achieved four times!

The Mother Ukers are a ukulele band performing covers and original material using ukuleles of all shapes and sizes to take you on a musical journey With songs and flavours of modern pop, punk, classic rock, the Swinging 60s, Fabulous 50s and the roaring 20s.

Kent-based mechanical alt-blues band, Funke and the Two Tone Baby will also be performing combining effects pedals, beatboxing and grooving bass lines with traditional instrumentation, powerful vocals and relentless energy.

Also on the bill are The Barefoot Bandit who are a British reggae/dub band based in Devon, their sound mixing catchy melodies with exciting rhythms to create a combination of roots reggae and deep dark dub.

Rising star Lauren Bannon, a contestant on the BBC show “I’d Do Anything”will be taking to the stage and is an inspiring, singer-songwriter from Weymouth, as will local band The Calloborators, an eight piece influenced by Ska/Funk/Soul/Jazz, and another local band The Pickwicks, whose aim is to uplift the soul and move the feet.

Sweet Black Angels who have recently supported The Levellers and The Specials will be performing an acoustic set from their three albums, and Koast an original indie funk band who also deliver progressive covers of current popular material from all charts and genres, complete the line-up.

In addition there will be a number of youth acts and young musicians performing on the third stage, whilst local music group Pop Club will be performing along with Howl Open Mic sessions and our resident DJ Tatoo’d Beat-Messiah
