There are always good people around when you really need them, and one Weymouth motorist discovered that firsthand after her car broke down on Radipole Park Drive.
The driver had popped out to pick up Sennan and his mate when, as she put it, her car “went limp” and broke down on Radipole Park Drive.
And it could hardly have happened in a worse place.
The car stopped on one of the roads with no lighting, right by the give-way area, leaving the driver stranded with just a two percent phone battery and no other help available.
But help was soon on its way.
A man stopped and asked if she needed assistance. He checked over the car before going home to collect his tools, returning to try to get the vehicle running again.
It turned out that the fuel pipe had popped out, releasing the fuel.
While he was helping, another man arrived on a bicycle and offered assistance, while a third person offered a jump start if it was needed.
There was even time for a little humour, with the stranded motorist receiving the familiar warning: “You can’t park there, mate!!!”
Fortunately, the problem was eventually solved.
The fuel pipe was reconnected, and Kyle, the man who had initially stopped to help, checked the vehicle over.
But he didn’t simply drive away once the immediate problem had been fixed.
Kyle followed the motorist back to make sure she got home safely and even offered to take her to collect Sennan.
For the driver, the experience was a powerful reminder that there are still plenty of people willing to help a stranger when they are in trouble.
“Incredible how kind and caring people are,” she said.
She was so grateful that she launched an appeal to try to track down Kyle.
“So if anyone knows a *Kyle who runs a fish and chip shop, please let me know so I can buy him some beers to say thank you!!”
The story didn’t end there.
The motorist later managed to find Kyle and took him some beers on Friday evening as a thank you for his kindness.
And even then, Kyle was still checking that everything was okay.
“Honestly, he was still checking everything was ok. What a lovely guy!”
At a time when stories of strangers helping one another can sometimes seem few and far between, this simple act of kindness on a dark Weymouth road is a reminder that there are still people prepared to stop, lend a hand, and make sure someone gets home safely.
Sometimes, a broken-down car can turn into a rather heart-warming story about the kindness of strangers.
Update:
*We found Kyle
