The Labour Party has today requested that the officer in charge of Thursday’s local council elections investigate two candidates standing in the Poole Town ward on the basis that they have been falsely identified in the statement of candidates.
Both William Kimmett and Simon Lane are members of the fascist, Britain First political party, but have declared themselves as “Independents”. As a result, Labour believes this may have broken electoral law.
Neil Duncan-Jordan, Labour’s election agent said: “It is typical of these sort of people to hide their true intentions from the general public. Fascists simply don’t support democracy, and this is an act of outright cowardice on their part. The council either has to remove them from the ballot paper – or at the very least make sure they are not listed as Independents – but Britain First.”
“Labour stands against fascism in all its forms and we call on other parties standing in Poole Town to join us in opposing these candidates. Let’s make it clear to William Kimmett and Simon Lane, when you mark your ballot paper on Thursday, that Poole absolutely rejects their hate-filled ideology.”
