Landlords can stay up to date with all the latest news and developments affecting the private rented sector by joining the new West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland landlords partnership.

The Landlords and Local Authority Partnership (LLAP) will build on the success of the previous West Dorset scheme, which has operated since 1999 and proven to be of value to both landlords and the council.

Thanks to that success, the free membership is now being widened to include landlords operating in the Weymouth and Portland area and also letting agents and property managers.

Membership will demonstrate a commitment to good standards and practice and provide an opportunity to share the collective knowledge and experience of landlords and letting agents in the area.

The LLAP will continue with at least two seminars a year, a free quarterly newsletter and lots of incentives such as priority access to grants and loans. More benefits may be introduced as membership increases.

Cllr Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said: “This will be a very valuable scheme for West Dorset landlords to be involved in.

“I would encourage those in the private rented sector to sign up and receive great benefits such as free seminars, newsletters and the latest information relevant to them.”

Cllr Kevin Brookes, Brief holder for Housing at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, said: “We want to help landlords in Weymouth and Portland access a whole host of benefits.

“The scheme is free to join and recognises responsible landlords who manage good quality housing.”
