On Saturday 15th March, the same day that visitors to the Bournemouth Natural Science Society heard a powerful Climate Reality presentation from outgoing South East Dorset Green Party Chair Mark Chivers, the Bristol ferry Matilda was used by the South West Green Party candidates to launch their European election campaign.  To emphasise their theme of Europe for the Common Good they visited some co-operative groups in Bristol and were joined by Sir Jonathon Porritt.

Lead South West candidate Dr Molly Scott Cato said, “This election is likely to focus on whether or not the UK should stay in the European Union so we are very keen to draw attention to the benefits that the EU has brought to us in the South West.”   However she called for serious reform as the EU worked for corporations rather than ordinary people.

South West candidates have already visited Bournemouth on several occasions.  Michael Hodges, SEDGP Chair said, “As the voting is done under proportional representation every vote counts, so it is well worth that trip to the local polling station on May 22nd.”
