Laura Pidcock has managed in a few sentences to help us understand the divide not only in the UK but across the western world and beyond. To strip it back it creates a binary between two opposing groups.
This could be an explanation of the attitudes relating to the welfare state, community, solving problems…. It is a reflection of one group that seeks to support and share against others who run from a burning house and spend the rest of their days celebrating their own survival and condemning those who didn’t as weak.
This tweet should become the basis of understanding our social conditioning and our whole political system and asking the question ‘what would society look like if the me, me, me’s were not allowed anywhere near decision making and positions of authority?’. If we sought to construct a society in which me, me, me was minimised as best as is able and replaced with a process of socialisation focused upon listening skills and sharing then I for one predict something vastly superior to the horror show currently on offer.
