Students were celebrating the start of the new academic term at Weymouth College today with a BBQ and live music.

During lunch, local band, The Leggomen, played an hour-long set to crowds of students who could be found soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the social aspect of college life.

Today marks the first day that all subject areas returned to campus after the summer break, with many students joining college for the first time.

The musical entertainment formed part of a wider schedule of induction, where students got to meet their classmates and tutors, and get a feel for what studying their course will be like. A Freshers’ Fair was also in full swing, with exhibitors including Healthwatch Dorset, the NUS and the National Citizenship Service.

If you’ve yet to make up your mind about your future, there are still places available on a range of courses including: travel & tourism, beauty therapy, painting and decorating, electrical installation, and outstanding sports courses. It’s not too late.

Drop into our main reception to speak to a member of staff. Enrolments are taking place throughout the week, so secure yours today.
