Businesses in Weymouth and Portland are invited to a free breakfast with the local Chamber of Commerce later this month, where they will discover the benefits of becoming members.

The breakfast, on 26 November at the Rendezvous, overlooking Weymouth Harbour, is being hosted by Chamber President Mark Blunden. During the morning, he and other Chamber representatives will meet prospective members, answering their questions about how the Chamber is helping make a difference to local firms. The event will also be an example of the networking opportunities available through the Chamber.

Those attending will hear a presentation by guest speaker Paul Kinvig entitled:‘Business would be great if it wasn’t for customers’. Paul has extensive commercial experience across a wide variety of organisations, was managing director of a daily newspaper and is now a Dale Carnegie trainer.

Existing Chamber members are being encouraged to attend with a non-member, as a way of introducing more firms to what the Chamber has to offer.

President Mark Blunden said:“We’re inviting all businesses operating in the area, from sole traders to national firms, to come along and learn more about the opportunities available to them through the Chamber. We offer networking, news, promotion and member-only discounts, along with giving firms a voice in the local business community.”

He added:“In the last few years the Chamber has made a real contribution to Weymouth and Portland. We’ve been a strong voice in favour of reducing car parking charges and we’re now working closely with the Weymouth BID, Civic Society, Hoteliers & Guesthouse Association and other groups on finding new ways to draw in more customers to the town.”

The breakfast is on 26 November at the Rendezvous, beside Weymouth Town Bridge. Any business wanting to attend can register via the Chamber website www.wpchamber.co.uk under Events, or can email [email protected] for more information.

Membership for 2014 is£99 per organisation plus£35 to cover the costs of 10 monthly breakfasts for one person.
