Karen Wiltshire of Poole-based company KW Photography has been recognised by the national organisation The Guild of Photography and has achieved the distinction of becoming a ‘Craftsman’ of the trade; a highly-coveted accolade shared with fewer than 20 industry professionals throughout the UK. She has also become the UK’s only Craftsman of ‘Children photography’.

KW Photography is a specialist in maternity, newborn and baby, children and family portrait photography. A recent submission of photographs from Karen’s portfolio were subjected to a rigorous review by The Guild’s expert panel of judges. Their assessment resulted in the Guild’s’Craftsman’ statusbeing given as the photographs were deemed to have demonstrated thehighest levels of technical skill, exceptional creativity and presentation.

The Craftsman statusis achieved by no more than 10% of the Guild’s membership of professional photographers.

Since establishing in 2010, KW Photography is quickly developing a reputation for excellence. In 2013 alone, Karen has won numerous accolades from The Guild including three Golds and three Overall winner awards in its Image of the Month competitions, and an assortment of Silver and Bronze awards, as well as two Gold awards from the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers.

Karen Wiltshire, of KW Photography, said of the award: “I am thrilled to be recognised by The Guild which is such a prestigious association in the photographic industry. It’s been overwhelming to have won several bronze, silver and gold awards from the Guild this year, so to top that off with becoming Craftsman, and the only one in my specialist subject in the whole of the UK, is a dream come true!”
