Residents and visitors of Poole and surrounding areas are invited to come and celebrate everything that’s wild about the local environment, with The Great Heath’s roadshow-style event, Wild About Poole, on Saturday 23rdJuly 2016.

A day of fun wildlife activities, live wildlife demonstrations, bird watching and face painting will be just some of the things the whole family can get involved with to find out more about your next door nature with Dorset Wildlife Trust and partners in The Great Heath.

The Great Heath Team will also be giving away FREE wildlife friendly garden plaques to those who come and show us photos of the wildlife friendly features in their garden.  Winners are asked to proudly display their plaque in their garden in recognition of their efforts to help wildlife.

Dorset Wildlife Trust’s Great Heath Learning and Interpretation Officer, Nicky Hoar, said, “This is a great event for everyone to get involved with – bring your bikes, bring your dog, everyone is welcome!  There are lots of different activities, including meeting a barn owl with the New Forest Owl Studio, seeing live moths and reptiles, or having a go at eco-crabbing in the harbour.  This will be a great day out in the heart of Poole, surrounded by world-class wildlife both on land and in the sea.”

Wild About Poole is free to attend, open to all from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 23rdJuly at Poole Harbour Baiter, Harbourside Park, Catalina Drive, BH15 1TQ.  There are transport links and parking nearby.  For more information, visit www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/WildAboutPoole, contact Nicky on [email protected] or phone 01202 269033.

This event is being run by Borough of Poole and *partners in The Great Heath.  Find out more about the Great Heath Wildlife Friendly Garden plaque here: www.dorsetwildlifetrust.org.uk/wildlife-friendly-gardens-scheme
