The Big Issue Bournemouth Office (based Bournemouth town centre) are looking for happy, motivated and helpful volunteers that are empathetic, pro-active and happy to join our lovely, small and energetic team!
We are a small, fast paced and casual office that like to have a laugh and get work done! As an office we cover the WHOLE of Dorset and some surrounding areas in Hampshire! So there’s plenty of work to be done 🙂
We help homeless and vulnerably housed people take control of their lives again by giving them a way of earning a legitimate income and lots of support with sales training, housing, GP’s, bank accounts, education and much much more!
We’re looking for many volunteers to partake in many different tasks to suit their personalities and skills, below is a list of SOME of the roles we wish to fill:
*Finance volunteer – for anyone needing a bump in their CV’s this is a great fun way of gaining experience, helping others and being a part of our little team.
*Spokesperson – this role is for the most confident yet passionate person! You will be going to meetings, talks, presentations to help us raise awareness about what we do
*Outreach/Support volunteer – You’d be going out on pitches to visit our vendors and give them the support that they need as well as making sure that their well-being is looked after.
*Mystery Shoppers – We’re looking for mystery shoppers to engage with their local vendors to make sure they’re behaving, keeping to the code of conduct and give them some feedback on their sales technique!
*Office/Sales volunteer – Working in the front line of the office, greeting our vendors and selling them their magazines. Making sure that everyone is motivated and happy to go and sell for the day
These are just a few of the roles needed in our office, we’re very flexible as to what you want to do, a lot of our volunteers mix and match certain roles and gain projects of their own throughout their time here.
Working at The Big Issue is very creative and very different and is definitely an opportunity not to be missed!
