Man and woman from Wimborne arrested in investigation of attempted murder

Detectives continuing to investigate an alleged stabbing in Wimborne are issuing an update and renewing their appeal for information.

Dorset Police was called at around 9.50pm on Sunday 26 February 2023 to reports a man had been stabbed at an address in the Leigh Gardens area of the town.

A man aged in his 50s was taken to hospital for treatment to suspected stab wounds, which were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Following initial enquiries, a 15-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man, both from the Wimborne area, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on police bail.

Following further enquiries, an 18-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he remains in police custody.

Detectives from Dorset County CID have been continuing to investigate the matter and have made a number of further arrests.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Wimborne, as well as a 35-year-old man from Fordingbridge in Hampshire have all been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The latest arrest has seen a 38-year-old Wimborne woman arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Detective Inspector Dave Horn, of Dorset County CID, said: “This has been an extensive investigation as we carry out detailed enquiries into events of the evening of Sunday 26 February 2023.

“I am continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or who may have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV, doorbell cameras or dashcams, to please get in touch with police.

“I would also urge residents in the area to please check their gardens for anything that could have been discarded.”
