Man Arrested Following Burglary in Dorchester

Officers are appealing for information as they investigate a report of a commercial burglary in Dorchester and have made an arrest in connection with the incident.

Dorset Police received a report at 3am on Monday 29 December 2024 of a break-in at the Sainsbury’s store in Bridport Road, with a suspect reportedly seen making off in the direction of Hawthorne Road.

It was reported that entry had been forced and scratch cards had been stolen from the store.

Officers responded and, following fast-paced enquiries by the local neighbourhood policing team (NPT), a 37-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Police Constable Glen Caddy, of Dorchester NPT, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has information that might assist our investigation.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam, home CCTV or doorbell camera footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250189908. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
