Detectives investigating a report of a knifepoint robbery at a Wimborne store are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

An investigation has been launched following the incident which occurred at the Spar in Gordon Road at around 9pm on Monday 24 April 2023. It was reported that a man entered the store and was at the till when he pulled out a Stanley knife, before demanding money from the member of staff.

He allegedly grabbed the victim by their clothing and took cash from the till. The total value of the money reportedly stolen was around £300 to £400.

Following enquiries by detectives from Dorset County CID, a 34-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Sergeant Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate this matter and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras. This includes a blue Renault Kangoo that was reported to be in the area and was being driven by a man in bright orange high visibility clothing.”
