Detectives have launched an investigation into the death of a man in Bournemouth and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.07pm on Friday 28 February 2025 of the sudden death of a man aged in his 60s at an address in Redhill Avenue.
An investigation has been launched by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) to establish the full circumstances of the death.
It is reported that the man was assaulted outside the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel in East Overcliff at around 1pm on Tuesday 25 February 2025.
Following initial enquiries, a 46-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody at this time.
Cordons remain in place at the address in Redhill Avenue and in East Overcliff to allow for examinations of the scenes to be conducted.
Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of MCIT, said: “A full investigation has been launched and we are supporting the victim’s family as our enquiries continue.
“As part of my investigation, I am seeking witnesses to the reported assault that occurred on Tuesday 25 February 2025. If you saw what happened, please come forward as you may have vital information to assist my enquiries.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area as our investigative work continues and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.
“I would like to add this investigation is in the very early stages and I am keeping an open mind as to the circumstances of the death.”
