A woman has sadly died from her injuries sustained during an alleged fail-to-stop collision in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at around 1.35pm on Saturday 23 October 2021 from the ambulance service of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Suffolk Road.
The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 40s – sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
It was reported that the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Clarendon Road. A black Audi A4, believed to be involved in the incident, was located and stopped in the Northamptonshire area in the early hours of Sunday 24 October 2021.
An investigation was launched by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
A 39-year-old man from Derby was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 41-year-old woman from Derby was on suspicion of assisting an offender. The woman has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Very sadly, on Tuesday 26 October 2021 the victim died in hospital. Her family has been informed and is being supported by officers.
The 39-year-old man has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of murder and is continuing to assist detectives with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of MCIT, said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our investigation is ongoing and I would continue to urge any witnesses or motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please get in touch.
“There will continue to be an increased presence in the area as enquiries are carried out and officers can be approached by members of the community with any information or concerns.”
