Man arrested on suspicion of rape in Poole

Detectives investigating a report that a woman was raped in Poole have arrested a man.

The incident was reported to have occurred sometime between 4.45am and 6am on Sunday 5 September 2021 in the vicinity of Poole Road, Branksome. 

It is reported that the victim, aged in her 30s, was approached by an unknown man riding a bicycle in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth and he travelled with her along Poole Road onto Branksome, where the reported offence took place. 

Following a CCTV appeal and enquiries led by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, a 29-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of rape. He is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.
