A man is due to appear in court in connection with a fatal road traffic collision in North Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.29pm on Wednesday 20 October 2021 of a road traffic collision near Hazelbury Bryan Primary School in Thickthorn Lane involving an articulated lorry and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a man aged in his 70s, was flown to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Very sadly, he died in hospital on Thursday 4 November 2021.

A 64-year-old man from Bruton in Somerset was arrested in connection with the incident and, following a detailed investigation by the traffic unit, he has now been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 20 January 2023 for an offence of causing death by careless driving.
