Man in his 50’s in serious condition following collision in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury road traffic collision in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 7.48am on Friday 11 November 2022 of a collision at the Wessex Roundabout on Radipole Lane involving a white Nissan van and a grey Mercedes Benz.

The occupant of the Nissan, a man aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

The occupant of the Mercedes was uninjured.

Road closures were put in place as the emergency services responded to the incident and were lifted at around 9am.

Police Constable Mike Golder, of Weymouth police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into the circumstances of this collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please contact us.

“I would also like to urge anyone who was driving in the area who has dashcam fitted to please check their footage to see if they have captured the collision or the vehicles involved in the moments leading up to it.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
