Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward – with two people being arrested.

At 6.12pm on Saturday 18 November 2023, Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service that a man had sustained injuries inside a private address in Westover Road.

The victim – a man aged in his 50s – was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A cordon was put in place while an examination of the scene was carried out.

Following enquiries, a 30-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and a 33-year-old woman from Christchurch was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. It is believed that both people are known to the victim. There is no information to indicate that there is any wider risk to the public at this stage.

Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We are continuing with our investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

“I am appealing for anyone with information who has not yet spoken with officers to please come forward.”
